Be Still 2

I hear your pained cries
You’re screaming out to me
Wondering how this could happen
Asking where I’ve gone

You yell as loud as you can
Both outside and in
Demanding answers from above
Craving direction and guidance

A constant stream of words
Prayers and questions from you
On your knees for hours
Your mind racing with thoughts

I hear your desperate pleas my child
And they greatly move my heart
But unless you will be still
You can’t hear my soft replies

Composition Date: August 12th, 2009

Holli’s Notes:
My husband’s business is called FortySixTen Studios after Psalm 46:10, one of the direct inspirations for this poem. Another driving force for this one was, surprisingly, a secular song, called ‘Scream’ by Chris Cornell.

So many times I’ve wondered why I wasn’t getting anywhere when I was calling out to my Father, but the answer was simple. I wasn’t being still so He could answer.
