Broken Trust

Those we love most
Hurt us the deepest
Is our trust misplaced
Or are our hearts too tender
The world is filled with pain
But why the ones we care for
Do they not care in return
Or see the sorrow they cause
A wall begins to grow
To shut out the pain
No more words
No more hurt
I know I should forgive
But what happens God
When I don’t want to

Composition Date: September 14th, 2009

Holli’s Notes:
This poem was written after a particularly tough thing happened in my life with a person close to me. I wasn’t quite sure how to react; I was torn between following God and indulging my flesh.
