Butterfly

From dust I was formed
Fearfully and wonderfully made

The dirt of Earth became my home
And as I crawled it stained me

Slowly I accumulated my burdens
Piled high on my shoulders

Like a caterpillar I inched along
Persistent in my journey

Evading stomping feet and walls
I would not let anything stop me

I have created a chrysalis for myself
The love of Christ protects and surrounds me

Now patiently I wait for the day
When I will emerge renewed
Like a butterfly dressed in white

Composition Date: September 4th, 2010

Holli’s Notes:
I like to write a poem each year for my birthday, talking about where I am in my walk with Christ. Last year I wrote about knowing that I was loved and meant to be. This year I am looking forward to my future with Jesus, an eternity of being dressed in pure white robes while worshiping and praising the Father, while leaving the stains of this life behind.
