Night

A hush falls over the land
As the sun sinks low
The stars appear one by one
And the moon begins to glow

God’s peace settles over me
And over His creation
I feel like I could sit for hours
Watching life slow down with fascination

The dark of night is like a cloak
Unnoticed I can hear and see
Couples walking with their dogs
And a bird’s song from a nearby tree

Breathe in deep the cooling air
The scent of evening filling your nose
So much to experience here
Unexplainable by poem or prose

Take a moment to let it in
Let the beauty of darkness surround you
The lack of light is not always bad
Allow the night to show you something new

Composition Date: July 24th, 2009

Holli’s Notes:
I got the idea for this standing on my balcony and listening to the quiet of the cool evening.
