Wondrous Night

A mother cries out in pain
As her son’s life begins
Unsure of what the future holds
Trusting in her God

Heaven and earth are joined
The stars themselves rejoice
This child is so much more
Than what he seems

Mary and Joseph accept the gift
But do not know the full story
Their son will save the world
If only it will let him

This wondrous night of so long ago
Was the first act of His play
Innocent baby born to this place
The promise of greater things to come
